The water bottle. A Cultural Historical approach

Among the numerous dailylife artefacts we are buying and consuming, plastic water bottles are the most criticized and the most consumed in debates as it appears as an important source of plastic pollution. However, this globalized product proves its usefulness in many human activities. An anthropological approach is necessary to understand the historical and cultural background of this specific product, and therefore, may contribute to a more comprehensive picture of its environmental impact.Version française: Parmi les nombreux objets du quotidien que nous achetons et consommons, les bouteilles d'eau sont les plus critiquées et pointées du doigt dans les débats en tant que source importante de pollution plastique. Pourtant, ce produit mondialisé a montré qu'il était incontournable dans beaucoup d'activités. Comprendre son histoire culturelle s'avère indispensable pour avoir une image complète de ses impacts environnementaux.
