Sedimentary microplastics (MPs) in the river-to-ocean continuum in Southeast Asia: spatial distribution, particle characteristics, and ecological risk

Summary

In this study, a dataset of sedimentary MPs in the three main Vietnamese riverine systems was established, with the highest concentration reported in the Saigon River. Urban and industrial areas are MP hotspots, while estuaries are key traps. Small-sized MPs (< 200 µm) were predominant; PE, PP, PET, and PVC were the major polymers.
